Physics A Student Companion Lowry Kirkby Books

A new revision guide for students taking introductory physics courses, be they physics majors, or maths or engineering students.
•Informal style – a student to student approach•Readers are assumed to have a basic understanding of the subject
•Notes are used to highlight the major equations, show where they come from and how they can be used and applied
•The aim is to consolidate understanding, not teach the basics from scratch
Physics A Student Companion Lowry Kirkby Books
If you are interested in reviewing and solidifying your undergraduate physics background, you should know that this book is absolutely perfect for that.It is basically everything that was important about your undergrad physics degree organized in the most simple and straightforward way without any clutter. Because of this you can read the chapters quickly and walk away with a "fresh grasp" of all the important ideas and derivations for a given subject.
It might be too slick and too concise for people just starting to learn physics (it seems better for review), and it doesn't have any problem sections in it, so if you are reviewing for the GRE you will need this book and something else with problems like "Conquering the Physics GRE" to get well rounded practice. But for a review of the theory and equations this book is the best I have seen.

Physics A Student Companion Lowry Kirkby Books Reviews
good and fast
I recommend this book. It is concise, self-contained and very well-written ... I got perfect score just by a quick review using this book few weeks before the exam.
Be aware that it contains some minor mistakes though!
Excellent organization. Well-written. Helpful for physics majors.
Serves as a nice review of the minimum amount of material you should be able to recall on completing a physics degree. No book will cover everything in substantial detail but I would like to say I can recall everything in this book at some point. The layout makes it easy to read and I liked the student-student tone of presentation.
Very good for review. There is a very good listing of formulas with excellent brief commentary. it is designed for review & study, not as a primary text, & it accomplishes this goal well.
I especially enjoyed the thorough explanation on special relativity. Many derivations that textbooks don't bother with are in here! So worth it!
I'm amazed there's only 9 reviews (aside from mine) so far. Lowry Kirkby has a genius for consolidating knowledge. If you are alright with math, and want to understand basic physics by reading a concise, straightforward description of it, this is a book for you.
