This book was recommended to me by a colleague, and I’m glad I followed their advice. It takes a topic that many people may not really know about, the link between gut health and mental health, and breaks it down in simple language with a lot of real-world examples. Firstly I really like the use of ‘emotional wellness’ rather than talking about mental illness. Mindset can make a huge difference for some people experiencing mental health issues. Granted many people facing emotional wellness issues need more than just a positive mindset, but this is a great step towards not stigmatizing or putting a negative slant on those who suffer from these problems.
I am planning to share this book with my friend, because as I was reading this I kept thinking of regular issues she deals with, both in her gut as well as anxiety and depression. Interestingly her therapist had recently mentioned this topic, so she expressed a lot of interest. Having a healthy gut is a great place to start for anyone, no matter if one is experiencing mental wellness issues or not. This book gives practical advice for people who want to give it a try and see if it will make a difference.
